New Studio!

It's more of an office space and is only big enough to make costumes in. There will not be any classes or dance studio space available. I will be making custom-made belly dance costumes as well as ready-to wear costume pieces, and I'll gradually have more information and photos on this website. Please note that there will not be any classes or dance studio space available. It's in the heart of Government Center, right across from the subway, overlooking City Hall Plaza, and will be open by appointment only.

Some *fun facts*:

This historic building, (the Hemenway Building) formerly housed the law office of Daniel Webster, as well as the famous gourmet food shop, S.S. Pierce--who sold such exotic items as pickled reindeer tongue! And on this site, stood the old Customs House, and before that, Ingersoll's Inn, where President George Washington stayed on a visit to Boston.

FILM

You can also see me in the new Martin Scorsese movie, "The Departed," where I'm an extra. I haven't seen it yet, but [I'm told] the scene I'm in is a little more than half way through, as Martin Sheen walks to the subway. "All I had to say was, 'Mr. Scorsese, I'm ready for my close-up!'"

Samarra also recently did some extra work for the RA Visions film, "Santa Claus in Baghdad." The movie is based on a short story from the 2005 book "Figs and Fate: Stories About Growing Up in Arab Society Today."

Samarra participated in a documentary which was made by fellow dancer, Nefertiti. This film features the inside stories of local [Boston] belly dancers discussing their unique paths toward a shared passion. The interviews are edited with live dance footage. You can see my segment HERE»
