Oriental Fusion Shows
Samarra produces and performs in her own Oriental fusion shows where lots of dancers come together and perform their own choreography to music that fits within a theme. Samarra, and the dancers who are drawn to these shows, are eager to explore the possibilities of blending Middle Eastern dance with other dance genres. It also gives them a chance to be creative and have fun dancing to great music that you would not ordinarily be able to do in traditional Middle Eastern dance arenas. So far, all of the shows have been at the All Asia Café in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and feature a live music segment and more traditional dancing. The music is best described as a Middle Eastern-style improv jam. Some of the area's most talented musicians, from a variety of backgrounds, come together and create a unique music experience, under the name of “Samarra’s Dream,” led by Barry Marshall.
